France or Switzerland, man's quarter repeating pocket watch, 6 jewels, key wind and set, gilt Lepine calibre movement with cylinder escapement in an 18 karat, hinged back and bezel, engine turned and scallop decorated open face case, the twist and turn plunger concealed in the urn shaped, foliate ornamented pendant, and Roman numeral, engine turned silver dial with eccentric chapter ring, gold Breguet style hands, serial #3085, 50mm, 67g TW, c1830.
CONDITION:
CASE: Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Scratches on inner surface of case and on cuvette; Engine turning with minor wear; Precious metal content tested. DIAL: Minor marks/ scratches. HANDS: Replaced minute; Marks and scratches. MOVEMENT PLATES: Scratches; Bright work with fine scratches; Screws with minor losses to blue, a few spots of oxide; Specks of dirt / dust. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks). COMPLICATION FUNCTION: Functions properly. The watch is a bit unusual in its striking, as the quarters are struck with the first on the low toned gong, followed by the high tone.
